The backup your business doesn't have yet

The offers, the ideal client, the plan, the passwords, all of it lives in your head and across ten different apps. This puts the heart of your business in one calm home in Notion, your HQ. It's your backup if life gets in the way, and your escape hatch if you ever want to swap tools. You do it once, in about fifteen minutes, and Claude builds it with you.

My whole business runs from one calm home like this, and that's what hands me my time back. This is where yours starts.

You'll need Claude Pro (or Max or Team). Connecting to Notion isn't on the free plan.

The quick version

What your HQ is, and why it matters

Your Headquarters is one page in Notion that holds the heart of your business, what you do, who it's for, and what you sell, with a running inbox for everything else. Right now that all lives in your head, which means you are the backup. If you're unwell, or away, or just tired, it goes quiet with you. An HQ changes that. It's a home someone else could be pointed to, it's the thing you'd hand to a new tool or a helper on day one, and it's the calm centre you build everything else on. Claude connects to your Notion and builds it with you, by asking a few simple questions, so you don't stare at a blank page.

The setup

Two steps, about fifteen minutes

First you connect Claude to your Notion. Then you paste one prompt and answer a few gentle questions while it builds.

1

Connect Claude to your Notion

You only do this once. It lets Claude create and tidy pages in your Notion for you.

  1. Open Claude on your computer, at claude.ai or in the desktop app.
  2. Click your initials in the bottom left, then Settings.
  3. In the sidebar, under Customise, click Connectors.
  4. Click Add in the top right, then type Notion in the search.
  5. Click Notion, then Connect.
  6. A Notion window opens. Sign in, choose the pages or workspace you want Claude to reach, and click Allow.
  7. Notion now shows a tick in your connected list. That's it, Claude can build in your Notion.

Paste this prompt and answer along

Open a new Claude chat, paste this in, and let it interview you. One question at a time, plain English, and you can say skip on anything. Watch your HQ appear in Notion as you go.

The prompt
You are helping me build my business HQ: one calm home in Notion for my whole business, starting today with a clear overview. First, ask me what my business is called. Create a new page in my Notion named "[my business name] HQ" and build into it as we go, so I can watch it appear. If you cannot reach my Notion, stop and tell me so I can connect it first. Then interview me to fill it in. Ask me one question at a time and wait for my answer before the next. Keep your questions short and in plain English, no jargon. Let me say skip and move on if I want to. After each answer, reflect back what you heard in one sentence so I know you have it. Ask me these, one at a time: 1. In a sentence or two, what does my business do? 2. Who is it for? Picture your ideal client: who she is, what she is struggling with, and what she wants. 3. What do I sell or offer, and roughly what does each thing cost? When we are done, organise everything into the HQ page, tidy and easy to scan, in my words and not corporate ones, with these three sections: - Business at a glance - My ideal client - What I sell Then create one subpage off the HQ page called "Brain Dump", a running inbox for anything I think of later. Put a one-line note at the top of it telling me to drop things in here any time, from my phone or my laptop, and to ask you to sort them wherever they belong whenever I like. Then show me the HQ page and ask if I would like to add or change anything.

The result

What you'll have at the end

An HQ page in Notion with Business at a glance, My ideal client, and What I sell, in your words.
A Brain Dump inbox you can drop anything into, from your phone or laptop, and ask Claude to sort later.
A real backup of your business, one calm home you could hand to a helper, or point a new tool at, on day one.
